There are some songs that change how we feel and view life, anyone remember, “We are the World”? The song was written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie. It brought entertainers of many different styles and nationalities together and it created a sense of unity for many across this nation and the world.

Those lyrics tell you about the history of the time in which the song was written. It’s a classic because of this, which influences people when they listen to it. I think people who discover Gaye will continue to be touched by the lyrics for generations to come.

The point I’m making is, lyrics within songs, from the beginning to the present, have played a part in our lives, whether it’s about love or war, truth or lies, weak or strong, we are influenced by the writers’ inner thoughts and feelings. It’s probably because the human soul and mind desires the influence of another’s deepest engaging thoughts and dreams. Or could it just be the longing to be a part of a connecting force that makes all of us in the world, one big family with a desire to know one another, but just not being able to develop our destiny.

It’s a beautiful thing when someone tweets you a message that empowers your belief in yourself or your goals or either allows you to view what you hope and feel about yourself through another’s eyes, heart or mind. Those words are of the inspirational nature and are meant to encourage you to feel or move to higher heights. On November 6^th or 7^th, 2012, depending on where you were in the United States or the world, the President of the United States (Barack Obama) tweeted a message to everyone thanking them for their support and letting them know that he’s going to continue to do his best in representing us in a highly inspired manner. Oh yea, his tweet was the most returned tweet in the history of twitter. How inspirational is that?

All through my life I never experienced the effect of being frighten by a movie, until I was an adult. I was about twenty-nine years of age and I lived by myself. I enjoy being by myself a lot, because that’s when I get my best song writing ideas.

It was about six thirty and it was still light out, because it was right before sunset. I was laying on my cal king waterbed, watching The Shining on my new Sony Trinitron television. So I started watching the movie and it started off slowly, but gradually rose in dynamics. Meanwhile it was getting darker and darker in the house. The sun had set and there were no lights on in the house. As time went on, between the dynamics of the movie and the quiet atmosphere, by the time Jack Nicholson said “Here’s Johnny the movie had me. I guess it took everything to come together to take me there, a place of fright where I hadn’t been before. Tell me about your scary moment, while watching a scary move, I dare you.

But what moves you more, a Happy movie or a Scary one?

Let’s flip the script and talk about a happy movie. One of my favorites is Forest Gump. It had an array of happy endings and situations that brought back many memories. The movie is told through the eyes of Forest Gump, who takes you through a journey of never ending delightful surprises. My favorite line in the movie began with “Mama said….

If I had to choose between these two movies, which one I liked most, I would choose Forest Gump, because I’m not a true fan of horror movies, but I am a sucker for positivity and overcoming adversities in situations that seem impossible to overcome.  The best part of movie was the strong loving relationship that he had with his mother. This touched me deeply and inspired me to tell my own story about my mother.  So with that in mind I would like to share with you a song I wrote and composed, entitled “You’re my Mother”.

Ok I’m going to open up a little here and talk about what used to be one of a few guilty pleasures for me. Now understand me, I’m only going to speak on one for now, I’ll get back to you on the others. Maybe.

The pleasure was a TV program I used to watch and I felt guilty, because I use to talk about anyone who watched it prior. I’m just not sure exactly what truly spellbound me; I just had to watch it every day it came on. I know you’re asking yourself, “how could you take the time to do that?” Well I had it set for recording daily and I would find time at night to watch it.

Ok here we go, I’m going to tell you the name of the program, but first I must let you know that even though I didn’t truly want people to know I watched it, I couldn’t help watching it. It seemed like I got a certain type of release each time I viewed the program.

Ok, ok I’ll tell you, but only because it doesn’t come on any more. The program was…  All My Children; ok there I’ve given you my use-to-be favorite guilty pleasure. Now it’s your turn to tell me in return, what is your favorite guilty pleasure? It can be anything, just as long as it’s yours and you are telling me the truth. Ha-Ha.

I’ve followed politics for a long time now and I’ve never seen anything like the confusion I’m viewing in today’s political venue. Tis’ the season to be jolly. That’s it!  Maybe if they sing along with one another or listen to each other’s desired brand of music. Maybe then they could find a way to open up their hearts and minds to one another, because I’m sure they really can’t be so stupid. They’re playing with people’s lives and on top of that, they’re ruining the spiritual togetherness of the season, but I guess that’s just the politics of the season.

Aren’t they supposed to be the ones who show us the right example of working together, because we did send them to Washington to represent us, right?  This season of politics isn’t created with joy, spirituality or respect for mankind. If they won’t sing; joy to the world, together, maybe they can try to let the peoples; freedom ring.

We all have a desire to express feelings that are deep within, at one time or another. We also sometimes find an individually expressive way to do it. It could be through words, deeds or an expression of love. There are so many ways to do this, as a matter of fact it is a particular way for each person if the search and one works toward finding that personal way to express their selves. It’s  like what I’m doing now, as I type this blog or it could be when I write lyrics to a song or when I compose music for those lyrics or when I’m writing in a book . The writing deals with expressions that have played the part of my life that creates all of my thoughts. Not only is expressing yourself or showing your feelings important to you, but they are also important to the people you talk and associate with. Expressing yourself is the communication of your inner being. So open up and give what you feel, oh yea, be nice and try your best to stay positive. Do it with love.

 This is a story I would like to tell you, but don’t saying anything just listen and don’t judge, but try to accept.

It was the year 20–, and times were hard. Many people weren’t in the position to have seasonal joy (aka Christmas gift excess). But understand that they would if they could find the tools to create the structure to be able to live within the wonderment of the season of joy, they would. Who wouldn’t? As time got closer to the 25^th of December, there were more and more people in this declining situation. Then one day one single person stood up and shouted out; “lets all pray, believe and have seasonal wishes for all the children to have their wishes to come true. As this touched everyone individually at a time, until it included every adult, it suddenly became clear to all that with love and giving, anything is possible. This single act of thought or giving changed the world, because now everyone understood that it wasn’t what was around us that made the difference, but it is what has always been inside us that truly make’s the difference.  If you can’t give products, give the greatest gift of all— your love. So maybe you should try it, I really wish you would, I’m pretty sure it would work.

Some men really don’t know, that sometimes a smile is just a smile and nothing more. I got this breaking news after sitting down and talking, to a group of lovely, soulful, beautiful and smart young ladies. They were telling me that the most of the time when you see a female smiling at a man, it can be for many reasons, but mostly just a nice gesture of friendliness. But you know men, many of us tend to think that the lady is giving us play and wants us to respond, because he feels she’s smitten with him and she wants him to react. For the most part their usual reply is, I don’t think so.

But men I got your back, so don’t react, but still allow it to let it make you feel that you are the smoothest thing since butter. Sure you deserve that, just as long as you keep it to yourself, because if they really want to give you play, they will make their way to you, believe me. Fellows keep on dreaming, because to me it feels so good.

Since that enlightened day of discovery, when I first experienced the majestic warmth of hearing and feeling the expression of song, till the day when I composed a song myself, the sound, vibration and magic of music have controlled my life.

In the beginning it was the excitement of a newly found wonderment and as I began to truly understand the meaning music conveys, it has underlined everything I do, think and feel. It’s a language that speaks to me on all levels of my life. It allows me comfort and strength when I’m sad. It gives me an abundance of energy when I’m tired. Music also fills me with inner joy while creating it and listening to it. It motivates me to express love on all levels.

Keeps me healthy too! It’s a great way to help me burn through my exercise regime. In other words, music has been in my life, music has made life full of meaning, matter of fact music is my life, and therefore it impacts my existence in every way every day. I’m not telling you anything you don’t already know though, so you tell me, how does music impact your life?
