Songwriting and Pre-Production

Songwriting and Pre-Production

In today’s forum of writing songs and getting them ready for the studio, it is important to take advantage of working out your project at home so you can save time and money. Here are a couple of thoughts to help you with this. After recording your composed music, remember to take your time and clean each track. Enlarge the track to make it more visible, then highlight the portions of the track you’re having noise on, use your gain to resolve the volume. Afterwards simply resize the track to its original size, and then consolidate. This should take care of any unwanted sounds. Also make sure your structure is arranged exactly the way you desire.

After laying an arrangement of your vocals, take the time to refine. I think one of the most important ideas I can give you is this: listen to your tracks and formulate your production ideas, because it will save a lot of time and money. Plus it’s very professional to do so. Good luck and always give it your best.

Peace in song,

Your Best

We usually do our best when we have our backs against the wall or when we are being challenged, most of the time it brings out the best in you. But on an everyday basis we can find ourselves doing our best by looking at each moment thoughtfully. Thinking things out is how we usually find the key to establishing a foundation in everything we do daily, because it is that moment of recognition that gives us guidance. It all leads to one thing and that is belief in yourself, so believe in you and it will help you through the day.

Doing my best,

Holding On

Holding On

Sometimes we are faced with problems in our lives, which challenge the truth and core of our belief in ourselves. It may give us worry, which may push us to think that all is lost. But there are simple ways of dealing with this, even if it seems to be unbearable and not understood. It is the simple logic that’s needed to be applied and that is, under no circumstance do you ever stop believing in yourself and the existence of good things to be in your life. Another thing is, to always hold on to the positive things you where taught when you where growing up, because that is where the innocence of goodness first touched you. Positive thinking along with logical thinking can always help make you a winner, because you’re a winner by just believing. So hold on to what is true and good!

Holding on,

Communication: Music and Motorcycles

Communication: Music and Motorcycles

I ask you the question, what is probably the world’s greatest tool that brings the individual into  the broad perspective of the whole when we  attempt to communicate? I’m sure there would be different answers from different individuals. But to me, there is only one tool you can use for broad and general communication; and that is music. It’s the one tool that transcends the great individual divide and creates in our lives, love, beauty and togetherness.  I say this, because music is the one thing where you may not understand the technique, but still enjoy and feel the emotion and see the beauty within you and others.

I can remember a long time ago when my band played at an annual dance for a motorcycle bike club and things began to get out of hand while we were on break. So, I said to the fellows “let’s go back on stage now and start our next set.” As soon as the music started, the potential problems stopped. Think about the times you were sitting or laying down alone at home or even with someone and a certain song or type of music begin to play on the radio or television, or even when someone was passing by and you heard the sound of music or simply a melody. I’m sure that had a positive affect on you, changing your feelings in a positive way, from where they were. Or remember the feelings you had when you where at a large outdoor or indoor concert and you felt that oneness that prevails in such an environment, just close your eyes and remember. Now tell me when was the other time you experienced something like that feeling?

The point I want to make is; music has such a communicating source, that it creates positive thoughts to the individual or to the masses. It doesn’t really make a difference if you hear it in a language you don’t understand, you still develop an understanding for the message, and the message is love, passion, goodness, beauty and truth. Now that’s COMMUNICATION, do you hear me?

Love Songs

Just the other day my daughter asked me, what is my favorite love song? At the beginning of my thought I felt, because it was so many wonderful love songs,  it would be hard for me to choose. But, after relaxing into my thought and thinking of the song that had the greatest effect on my feelings, it wasn’t hard to choose my personal choice. Hands down, it was the Whispers; Can’t Help But Love You. Even now, it has the same effect that it did the first time I heard it. From the first line that is sung in the song, it describes what love means. “Love means never having to say, you’re sorry, can’t help but love you”. Let me stop right there and allow you to listen and enjoy the feeling of love being expressed in such a wonderful way. Go Whispers.

Loving to love,

Standing Up For Yourself

It’s funny that in this society, an individual is sometimes judged as being selfish if they give themselves all that they need. When we truly think about this and put it in the proper perspective, it’s easy to see and understand that, before you can give or understand someone else or give to someone or thing, you first have to have and understand the values that create self. This means believing in you and creating an inner love and trust for you. The fact is you can’t love, when you don’t know what love is, ask Forrest Gump. You can’t understand the things someone else does, if you haven’t taken the time to learn the lessons life has in store for you. So be all you can be and learn all you can learn and let the things you learn, be about love, trust and forgiveness. Believe in what is good and right, because when you develop these things you become complete, and when you are complete, then you can give and speak on the next person’s life. That’s truly standing up for yourself, because when you know yourself, it’s then you have helped yourself, so you can help others.

Standing straight up,

Where Are You Standing?

I feel this is an important question to ask yourself, when you are not sure about a situation that may exist for you. Each one of us  at one time are another, might confuse ourselves when emotions are evolved. So I feel it’s important to ask yourself, where do I truly stand? Because you may be correct about the point you’re making, but not stating it in a way that’s conducive for the next person to except or understand. So are you standing to relate o r are you standing only to express your feelings? They both can be correct, but it matters on how you are standing. Are you standing in the position of letting a person know something, if so it is totally important that your point is made in a way that the person you’re talking to, can understand. Now if it is a point you’re making, are whether you are expressing your feelings and it is the emotion that you want to convey, then just say it, because it doesn’t really matter how they take it, you just want to get the emotion of it across. This type of desired expression (emotional) happens, but let’s not get it confused with making your point that is relative to the next person, because then it’s so important for the person you’re talking to, to understand and get your point. So all ways know where you stand, because it might get taken the wrong way.

Standing with you,

Deryo

Appreciation

They’re many things that I feel appreciative for and they come in so many ways. But the most important of all to me, is belief. With someone believing in me, I can do anything that is positive, because it creates such a broad avenue for me, and the core of believing holds great substance and foundational values.

I can remember a situation where, because of someone believing in me, I over came a challenge that others and I thought I couldn’t. I was about twelve years of age and a good friend and I was outside my house playing. So my oldest brother came along and made the challenge to my friend that I could beat him in a hundred yard dash. Up until that point it was thought by my friend and myself, that he was a faster runner. But, after looking in my brothers eyes when he said I could win, made me feel a newfound hope.

At the start of the race my friend jumped the gun and right at that time I kind of felt not so strong, but I looked down the street at my brother, and I felt an overwhelming strength. By the time the race ended, I was able to come back and win the race by a couple of steps. This is something that helped me to be creative, caring, loving, honest and a belief to never give up on anything, no matter how hard or how long it takes. I’ve been blessed to have more than one person who believes in me during my life, in a way that only The Positive Energy can give. Without this I am hollow, because I feel a person is only as good as the people that surrounds and gives faith to him or her. The person, who gives it to me at this time in my life, is endowed with the purity of goodness and righteousness. So Ermy, I appreciate you. Thanks for all.

Appreciating,

Deryo

Beginnings

We all have had the experience of starting a project from its beginning and are seriously into it with all we’ve got.  Well at this time I’m having some movement with my latest CD, as far as airplay and being played in night clubs (thanks to Erica). But like most, it only comes with hard work and perseverance, which only marks the beginning of the continual stride for the best and most out of what you’re working toward. Whenever you attempt something, look at it as you loving and giving yourself-something personal. I say this because we all want the best for the people we love and loving yourself is loving them, because this where it all begins.

Forever beginning,

Deryo
