Seeing Clearly

I can see clearly as the blessings come my way

Sometimes I am blind to the fact

But I have learned, so this I say

Stand strong and continue to believe

Even though challenges may fall your way

Since belief is not based on the moment

But only exists in the forever and forever

So never give up on what you believe

Because through your belief

You shall succeed

So just open your eyes to see clear

It’s up to you to fight your fear.

Seeing clearly,

Deryo

Is It Something I Said?

Is it something I said?

Because I didn’t mean to disrespect you

I was walking with you in my dream

And just wanted to hold your hand

Then I spoke with you of what He asked me to tell you

And it seems like you didn’t understand

But now that I’m awake

I can see

It wasn’t you showing that you would forsake

Forsake the word that had been spoken

But it was me who didn’t understand

Because you were naturally showing your expressions

From within for whom you are

Because the message was for one to have acceptance

So please forgive me

If it was: Something I Said

Trying hard not to prejudge,

Deryo

On and On

On and On and On and On
That’s how life simply addresses us
Never stopping long enough
For you to breath
Or to see
But only to react
The moment
The moment of love
The moment in love
As it never stops
It just goes
On and On and On and On

On and On,

Deryo

When You Left

I can remember that day

And even today I can’t say

The feelings that lie in my heart

True I wasn’t ready

And yes it’s hard for me to keep it steady

But once my mind became my friend

It was then

I could think of you.

After you left

Long nights

Short days

Forgetful thoughts

And the feeling of being without you

When you left

Was I still here?

But because I love you so

I hold you near

And since you left

I’ve learned: what love truly is

All ways in my heart,

Deryo

Voices From The Ghetto

As I made my way

From my mother’s Womb

The lights hurt my eyes

So I began to cry

Right then life

My life

Took a turn from the top

Landing me somewhere

Where people drop

Dropped right into the misery

Where people live their lives

Then die

Die with a heart broken from the beginning

Never knowing joy or hope to explore

So I ask

If God loves me, why this

Because I’ve never known or been told

You must believe in order to succeed

Never been taught that

There is a plan

Where He gave you a choice

Because all who were brought to this land

And didn’t have a choice

Still choose to live

So the plan is to become a man

And don’t take the bad that’s given, as your choice

But believe and grow strong

And don’t believe in wrong

Just be the man with the plan

And believe in the truth and live and love long: As your ancestors did.

 You can overcome the negative,

Deryo

The Night

Slender is the night

When it brings lovers together

Slender is the night

When it’s full of emotion

That drives them apart

The night is a time

When we wonder in our thoughts

Tilting to and fro

And sometimes building on to

What may not even be there

It’s also a time

When we may lose ourselves

In order to find ourselves

The night

Quiet

Loud

Loving

Sad

It’s when we create

To save ourselves

Bad night

Good Night

The night,

Deryo

In and Out

Everything that you do

Is monitored by what you put in it

Therefore

What you put in it

Is what you get out of it

Like the day you decide to

Become a doctor

A musician

A teacher

A college graduate

A mother or father

A writer

A nurse

And Etc.

So always do your best

No matter how hard it is

And how tired you may be

If you believe

And work towards it without stopping

You’ll win

Believe me

He loves you

So love yourself

Up, down, in and out, never stop,

Deryo

Mothers

Mothers are indescribable

Because their love and worth cannot be valued

By anything you say or do for them.

The love of a mother is not measured

By if they gave birth to their baby

But it is created by the truth in love.

This for the sons and daughters who still have their mothers with them.

Every moment you see

And every moment that you breathe

Love and Respect your mother

And this is for the sons and daughters who no longer have their mothers alive.

Like a gentle wind

When I look in your eyes

Even though I was just born

I can tell I don’t have to worry

I don’t have to be afraid of having or not having what I need

Because you are this wonderful gift

Given by God

To love me, protect me, and understand what I don’t or just can’t

As I grew I began to understand

What a blessing truly is

It is to create love and love, as you love yourself

Now as a man, I still don’t completely understand

How great you are and how blessed I am

But I have learned that just like you

I love you so much I would be honored to give my life for you.

As I speak, I know my words don’t truly understand my feelings

But I hope in my honoring of you

Mother

That through my eyes you could see my heart

Mothers, the greatest truth ever made,

Deryo
